Ho Kam-An (Stephen Chow), a weak and disadvantaged but very kind lunch delivery boy, happens to fall in love with Lily (Christy Chung), the girl of his dreams from his local sports center. However, his dream is crushed after a disastrous date in which Lily is punched in the face by accident from a bullying Judo master named Black Bear, when Ho instinctively ducked from Black Bear’s fist. Later that night, in a brutally straight-forward fashion, Lily tells Ho that she dislikes weak and pathetic men.
A heartbroken Ho walks around the sports center aimlessly, until he comes upon a convenience shop (really a shack) owned by Tat (Ng Man Tat) who claims to know a secret kung fu technique that will turn any pathetic weakling into a champion in a short time. Ho’s gullibility and desire for revenge against Black Bear makes him gladly accept Tat as his sifu. What Ho isn’t aware of is that Tat is actually a swindler who taught him only useless, fantasy kung fu techniques.
